LUXURY TRAVEL IN CHILE

From the world’s driest desert in the north to towering glaciers in the south, Chile is a land of dramatically beautiful contrasts and unforgettable experiences. Adventurers, nature lovers and luxury seekers will all find lots to love here.

The southernmost country in the world, Chile stretches some 2,670 miles from north to south. The nation’s tremendously diverse geography and climates make it an exceptionally exciting place to explore. You won’t truly know Chile until you’ve visited more than one region, since each offers its own unique pleasures.

In Chile, you can enjoy activities that most people only dream about, whether it’s sailing past giant blue glaciers, hiking through Patagonia’s famous Torres Del Paine National Park, admiring the mysterious statues of Easter Island or star gazing in the Atacama Desert, where the terrain is so otherworldly that NASA has used the region as a testing ground due to how closely it mimics the terrain on Mars.

Chile is also a rewarding place to relax and indulge. You can sample sophisticated cuisine, culture and accommodations in the capital city of Santiago, the nation’s main international gateway, or sip some of the world’s most legendary varietals in the famous wine regions of Maipo, Aconcagua and Casablanca. You also won’t want to miss a visit to the picturesque Lake District, where you can go fly fishing, river rafting, hiking, climbing and skiing — all against a magnificent backdrop of snowcapped Andean volcanoes.

WHEN TO GO

Chile is a year-round destination but its climate varies, from the desert in the north to the glaciers in the south, so the best time to visit varies by region. The peak season for Patagonia is between November and March. The Atacama Desert has relatively pleasant weather year round, with very hot days from December – February and very cold nights from June – August. Chile’s winter (June – August) is naturally the best time for skiers looking to try out Chile’s awesome ski slopes.

GETTING THERE

Santiago is the gateway to Chile for most international travelers and there are nonstop flights from NYC, LA and Miami. Trips to Chile that include Patagonia, the Lake region, and the Atacama Desert will involve multiple flights. Chile is one of the jumping off points for trips to Antarctica.
