LUXURY TRAVEL IN ALASKA

Most experience Alaska by ship. We think the best way to appreciate Alaska’s beauty and magic is by helicopter and seaplane, while staying in its remote luxury lodges. Exploration on land allows for deeper immersions and richer experiences, paired with increased space and privacy to enjoy them in. We specialize in getting you to the heart of Alaska, with a front row seat to the action and unparalleled access to the most spectacular experiences.

Glittering glaciers, dramatic fjords, glassy lakes and diverse wildlife – welcome to Alaska, one of the most dramatic destinations in the world. It is home to seven of the ten largest national parks and the highest mountain peak in North America. “The Great Land” beckons with an impressive collection of icons, including the Inside Passage, a 500-mile-long ocean route populated by tidewater glaciers and island scenery; Tongass National Forest, the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world; and Denali National Park, whose six million acres of untamed land are bisected by a single ribbon of road.

Summer in Alaska is the season of the salmon run, when grizzlies and brown bears congregate at the riverside to feast. The bears, along with moose, caribou and Dall sheep, can also be seen in Denali National Park, where exhilarating explorations are nurtured by the midnight sun. A boat cruise through the fjords leads to slow-moving glaciers, whose sporadic calving causes a deafening boom that commands the landscape. The endless coastline – stretching some 6,640 miles – beckons with sandy beaches and picturesque horizons. And ice caves glitter with the promise of undiscovered treasures. Many of Alaska’s most special activities are accessed exclusively by helicopter…think hiking, via ferrata, mountain biking, fly fishing, glacier picnics prepared by private chefs, and epic wildlife viewing from giant grizzly bears to elusive bald eagles.

In the winter, Alaska’s snowy settings dazzle. Whether downhill skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling, the state’s frozen tableaux are easily explored with the appropriate clothing and protective gear. For a more leisurely adventure, soak away stresses in a Nordic spa, or retreat to a local brewery for an award-winning beer.

One of the least populated areas of the United States, Alaska is truly one of the last frontiers. Ninety percent of the state has no roads, and the bushplane is considered a local alternative to the SUV. Kayak alongside whales, hike amid forests and glaciers, and watch waterfalls tumble into raging fjords. After long days and nights spent in the wild, indulge in a stay at a lavish lodge, watching the aurora borealis conduct its silent symphony just outside your window.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

WHEN TO GO

Alaska is equally epic in summer and winter. Between June and August, journey into the outdoors under the guidance of the midnight sun – these are the best months to see whales and bears, flightsee over stunning panoramas, and dive into outdoor adventures ranging from waterskiing to rock climbing. Between January and March, bundle up and scan the skies for the Northern Lights, try your hand at dogsledding, or indulge in your favorite snow activities surrounded by a magical, otherworldly landscape.

GETTING THERE

Most land-based trips in Alaska begin with an overnight Anchorage, though some may start in Juneau. Travel onward is typically by seaplane or helicopter, as almost none of the best wilderness lodges are accessible by road.
