Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. A biodiverse oasis made up of lush grasslands and wetlands, tumbling waterfalls, dense bamboo and peaceful eucalyptus. Nyungwe is home to 13 species of primates, including a large population of more than 500 chimpanzees. The region’s best property, One&Only Nyungwe House, is set on a high altitude working tea plantation and has all the creature comforts one can desire. The lodge’s beautiful villas skim the treetops and balconies hover over the forest canopy, the interiors are elegant and the food is exquisite. This is a dreamy, magical jungle escape and a great starting point for chimpanzee tracking and exploring the surrounding flora and fauna in the park.
